Through The Recruitment Co. Agency, I started working for the NICS as an Administrative Officer for the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP). I was using numerous payment systems and databases to make Cost of Living payments to claimants that were in receipt of various DWP benefits. My role consisted of making sure the claimant was entitled to the Cost of Living payment before creating and submitting it to be approved, so this required extra attention to detail.
I was then promoted to Executive Officer Grade 2 (EO2) in July 2024 and is currently the position I hold now. This position entails confirming that the claimant was entitled and that the agent was making the payments correctly, as well as providing feedback to the agent if anything was incorrect.
I worked in this position part-time whilst I completed my GCSE's, A-levels and university degree. I had numerous duties in this role which included data entry on tills and money handling on a daily basis. Further down the line, I was trusted with mentoring newly hired employees and teaching them about how the shop functions on a daily basis. This employment also required me to work under pressure during peak hours as well as safely lifting heavy amounts of stock. We were also responsible for creating lists of items low in stock, picking them from the stock room and packing them safely into a lift.
