Michael Wells

I worked independently in a busy Portuguese restaurant, carrying out all front of house and bar duties. I opened and set up the restaurant each day, prepared the tills, managed all cash, card payments and cash machine transactions, and was responsible for balancing the money throughout the shift. I welcomed customers, took phone orders, served food and drinks, prepared cocktails, poured draught and bottled beers, and operated the till. I communicated orders to the chef, delivered meals, cleared tables, and washed dishes. I only managed the entire front of house operation on my own while working with one chef, which strengthened my ability to stay calm under pressure, work efficiently, multitask, and provide excellent customer service in a fast paced environment. I am now looking to work in a bar where I can contribute as part of a strong team while continuing to develop my hospitality and bar experience.

I worked with a local bar to create professional media content that promoted the business across social media platforms. My responsibilities included filming and editing promotional videos, producing engaging content for online marketing, and taking high quality photographs of the venue, its atmosphere, and the welcoming environment it provided for customers. I worked closely with the business to create content that reflected its brand and encouraged customer engagement. This role strengthened my skills in videography, photography, editing, content creation, time management, creativity, and communication, while giving me valuable experience working with a real business and producing professional marketing material.

I worked as part of a team to provide a welcoming, safe and well organised environment for people of all age groups, with much of my experience involving children and their families. I communicated effectively with customers, staff and visitors, ensuring everyone was treated with respect and received the support they needed. On production days, I also assisted behind the scenes by serving food, pouring drinks for parents and guests, and helping events run smoothly and efficiently. This role strengthened my teamwork, communication, customer service and organisational skills, while giving me valuable experience working with a wide range of people in a busy and professional environment.
