Iolo Case

I have worked in hospitality for 3 years as a front of house team member serving customers and preparing drinks and interacting with customers, in these 3 years I have developed excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills while working in a fast paced environment. I learnt to remain calm under pressure adapt quickly to changing situations and provide support to people with different needs. Furthermore in my 3 years of working in hospitality i helped teach and educate new people this has taught me how to cater to different peoples way of learning. In addition to this hospitality has given me a profecient understanding of allergy awareness. Overall my expreniences in hospitality have prepared me to build positive relationships with pupils and staff, support learning in the classroom and contribute positively to the school community.

During my time in sixth form I volunteered as a tutor to help with literacy and mathematics for younger pupils who were struggling with these skills through the medium of Welsh. Within these tutoring sessions I helped younger pupils grasp key concepts and better their confidence by helping to explain tasks and methods in different ways that suited their learning styles for example learning different aspects of numeracy through fun games and digital devices. Furthermore, I was able to break down tasks for these students to help them achieve intended outcomes in a way that fostered understanding and success. In turn this boosted their confidence and ability and motivation to work. This required understanding and patience and being aware of non verbal cues if they were becoming anxious or stressed during the sessions. As part of this role I also

maintained records of each student's progress, identifying areas needing further improvement and gave feedback to their classroom teachers for continuity.

In this kids camp I was tasked with supervising children whilst doing sport activities. During this camp I was also helping the senior leaders greeting children and parents and settling them in, organising games, skills and teams that were supportive, inclusive and fun. I also supervised lunch times and rest breaks for the children and generally kept the children engaged and occupied throughout the day. Some children required one to one support for their confidence and to develop co-ordination.
