My current role as an operational commander involves responding to the most serious 999 calls, proving clinical leadership at the scene of emergencies and working closely with other partner agencies, patients and indeed members of the public to help and or assist those that need us most.
The second part of my role as an operational commander involves line managing a team of twenty staff, liaising with various hospitals and departments to facilitate the turnaround of ambulances at hospitals to ensure they are not delayed. I also work closely with our patient services department investigating incidents, communicating with patients and indeed other agencies to ensure best practice.
As a clinical operations manager for South Central Ambulance Service , my responsibilities involved being a line manager to 12 other senior managers and being responsible for delivering ambulance services to a nominated area. I also worked closely with NHS England and other system partners as well as working closely with our board.
