- During my time in Portugal, I learned to prepare a variety of cocktails that meet customer preferences in terms of both taste and aesthetic.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the bar was extremely important to ensure a safe and professional working environment allowing for efficient service.
- I was able to assist patrons by providing recommendations based on the flavour profile they were looking for and the occasion of the night.
- In Portugal, most people prefer to pay in cash, which allowed me to handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently. I also completed bank payments, which we had a lot of, as well.
- Collaborated with crew members to engage with patrons as soon as they walked through the doors, creating a welcoming and positive relationship with our customers straight off the bat. We'd then continue with our positive and fun atmosphere, which then resulted in repeat business from lots of guests.
- At times, I took on the role of managing and organizing the inventory and would create a stock list for any missing supplies, which we would need to meet high demand during peak hours.
- When I first joined, I was working with a small team and had to adapt quickly to different situations, maintaining efficiency even under pressure.
- Working with my crew in a small working environment meant we had to work hand in hand with each other making sure we could work seamlessly together for the best and quickest service during the busy tourist periods.
- I have trained new staff members effectively, ensuring the best service standards were maintained, while serving drinks as well as closing and opening the bar.
- At the beginning of a night, we would double-check everything was cleaned the night before and would finish off anything that wasn't to standard. I then moved on to prepping fruit / garnishes before doing my final checks and opening the doors ready for the night ahead.
- Throughout the night, I would be collecting and cleaning glasses, serving drinks and cocktails, customer communication skills, topping up spare fruit and cleaning bar and spillages.
- At the end of the night, I would start deep cleaning behind the bar (wiping down beer taps, spirit bottles, washing up shakers, etc.), then I would begin to scrub the floors in the entire bar, before moving to the kitchen and scrubbing the entire room down. At the very end of the night, I would do a stock list to see what was missing, and I'd collect ice to put in our freezer, ready for the next day.
