In December of 2024 I was given the opportunity to help as an Assistant Leader to go to a Scout Jamboree in Australia. This was truly an amazing time and the experience it gave me will no doubt help me in a work environment.

As a leader I helped looked after groups of young children aged from 7 to 16 with activities, making sure they felt safe and had fun. This was a wonderful event, where I meet people from all over the world. I am a fairly quiet person but this really helped me grow in confidence as I had to be organised with events and with my time keeping , also having to deal with situations that came to my attention and trying to resolve them as best I could.

To attend this Jamboree a lot of hard work went into fund raising to help with the cost of travelling. I was involved in Santa Runs, raffles, supervising check points at fun runs just to name a few.

I was very lucky to have been able to go to Australia and the experience will benefit me in any job role.

I have been attending Scouts from a young age which has helped me to learn many new skills and build confidence through meeting new people. When I turned 17, I was able to help out with the younger sections which improved my skills of leadership and gave me confidence in organising and setting out activities.

During my first year of A-levels, I was successful in getting a placement for Tesco. Whilst at Tesco's I had an insight into the retail industry. I was given a wide range of jobs from working in the warehouse to see how they rotate stock and then onto various roles within the store. This was such a valuable experience for me as having to meet new people within a work place and also dealing with customers. This was a great experience for me to have.
