
After leaving school, I joined the Army Foundation College, where I completed 49 weeks of training. During this time, I developed key skills and values including discipline, respect for others, loyalty, teamwork, and resilience. Upon completing basic training, I moved to Catterick Garrison for a 12-week intensive training course, which I successfully passed.
Following this, I was posted to Bulford Barracks, serving with 5 Rifles Armoured Dismounted Battalion. After three months in this role, and following careful consideration and discussions with my brother, who has served in the Army for six years, I decided that a military career was not the right long-term path for me.
After leaving the Army, I joined Goals. Within six months, I was promoted to Shift Supervisor, achieving this over colleagues with three to four years’ experience. After two months in this role, I applied for Assistant Manager. Although unsuccessful initially, I reapplied when another position became available and was successful.
I have now been an Assistant Manager for over one year, and have worked at Goals for a total of two years and two months. In this time, I have:
My next career goal is to progress to General Manager. While I am aware my age (currently 19, turning 20 in January) may be perceived as a limitation, I believe my rapid progression, leadership experience, and strong work ethic demonstrate my readiness for increased responsibility.
