  • Provide a secretarial and administrative support service to ensure efficiency in patient/client care.
  • Track all patients referred and take appropriate action to ensure a timely diagnosis and treatment for patients, as required to achieve the contract waiting times.
  • To progress patients through their pathway ensuring that all tests/scans are ordered and the patients notes, results and reports are made readily available to the appropriate clinician in time for the next step of the pathway.
  • Liaise with service managers and other staff to ensure that appointments or admissions are achieved within the agreed pathway.
  • Type and process clinic and discharge letters and reports using audio dictation, word processing methods as required, and ensure all follow up actions are complete and in accordance with local policies and procedures.
  • Process outpatient appointments using Health Records systems (PAS and ENCOMPASS). This will require strict adherence to policies and procedures regarding booking appointments for various specialities/consultants.
  • Process waiting list patients using Health Records systems in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
  • Collect, maintain and input information to support databases for daily/weekly performance reports relating to relevant patients including the tracking of patients.
  • Deal with incoming and outgoing correspondence as required.
  • Maintain diaries and organise meetings as appropriate.
  • Maintain records both manual and computerised in an accurate and timely way and in accordance with local policies and procedures.

  • Band 2 Nursing Assistant Theatre experience:- Assist the scrub nurse with setting up surgical equipment in an efficient manner
  • Support scrub nurse; ensure counts are accurately documented on both the board and care pathway assist the anaesthetist and surgeons with positioning the patient for surgery
  • Maintain an accurate record of instruments used and being responsible for traceability; being able to pre-empt the need for additional swabs, sutures, syringes etc; assisting with the 1st, 2nd and final count.
  • April 2022, I worked in the Day Procedure Unit ward/recovery. I assisted the nurses by being on hand to fetch and provide equipment, ensuring that when patients are arriving for their surgical procedure, they are measured for ted stockings and given a gown to wear; once they come back to recovery and then the ward, they are provided with something to eat and drink.
  • I assist the nurses with transporting patients to wards if they are an inpatient. If they are a day case, I will assist them with walking to the family member who is picking them up.
  • I make sure to maintain up to date documents and equipment and will also assist the porters with fetching inpatient beds and ensuring that beds are clean and made up and soiled linen is taken to laundry.
  • I also check patients vital signs, I am trained in doing ECGs and Venepuncture.
