During my time at Edu-Lettings as a Recreational Assistant, I have created a positive, welcoming environment for all participants, ensuring they receive the most out of their experience. My responsibilities include opening the venue and maintaining cleanliness in recreational areas to uphold our high hygiene standards. I manage the bookings for the facilities, ensuring optimal utilisation of spaces and timely operations. Being aware of the groups and individuals that are using the facilities is important to ensure they receive everything they need, and I would consistently and efficiently assist to them and answer any queries they may have.
Any incidents that took place on site would be logged quickly and accurately detailing the event and outcomes for future references. I ensure all facilities are in excellent condition at the end of each use and at the the end of the day to ensure the site is prepared for the next bookings.
Escapologist in Cleethorpes is another escape room venue, this venue has seven escape rooms that customers can come and take part in. Since working here, I have challenged myself to learn all of the escape rooms as quick as possible, as well as how to reset them once they have been played. My duties included welcoming customers to the venue, and taking them through a health and safety brief as well as the story and the theme for the specific room they have booked to take part in. While they are in the rooms, I would watch them via cameras on a computer screen and give them clues through a walkie talkie when they need them. After they have completed their room, I would reset the room and make sure it is ready and up to a high standard for the next group to come in. My duties also included making sure the venue was clean and tidy, taking payments and providing customers with refreshments.
The role of Games Master at Mindlock Escape Rooms included the responsibilities of welcoming customers to the venue, introducing myself and giving them a safety brief of the escape rooms. This job required a certain theatrical aspect, as our rooms had different themes and customers would frequent the venue for celebrations and enjoyment. I would lead customers to the escape room, giving them a few rules and tips first, and shut the door. I would watch them throughout their game and give them helpful hints via a TV screen in the room.
My role also included opening and closing the venue, and answering the phone to customers who have any queries. I would use the computer to check the booking system and note all bookings down, to ensure everything runs smoothly, and check and fill in the cash sheet at the start and end of every day. Throughout my time at this job, I gained excellent computer skills and customer service skills. My time at this job came to an end as I had completed my university degree in York, and I was moving home to Grimsby.
