During my time at Hedges I started as a HGV Class 1 driver and quickly worked my way up to be a Transport Planner then Transport Manager, after I passed my International Transport Managers CPC back in March 2022, as the Transport Manager i had some key duties to fulfil,

• Maintained vehicle fleet with precise coordination of preventive maintenance and functional repairs.
• Coordinated and managed allocation of drivers and vehicles to service network, guaranteeing efficient, accurate deliveries.
• Assisted with employee relations issues, addressing disciplinaries, grievances and absences.
• Communicated with drivers to address accurate start times, load information and route issues.
• Kept all company logs and records updated, recording daily details of work performed.
• Planned transport solutions fo local and international clients.
• Participated in recruitment, selection and induction of new drivers.
• Evaluated team performance and highlighted opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency.
• Planned driver routes for cost-effectiveness, speed and customer satisfaction.
• Communicated with hauliers for regular updates on timely delivery.
• Minimised late deliveries by coordinating and controlling haulage movements.
• Liaised with customers and other departments to plan timely transportation of goods.

During my time at Heron Foods, I started as a store manager and was given the opportunity for a career change into the transport sector. I was working in the warehouse picking and packing orders while I under went my HGV training, I quickly gained my HGV Class 2 and then my HGV Class 1 licences

As a professional HGV driver some of the key duties i faced day to day were;-

• Completed deliveries efficiently through careful route planning.
• Operated HGVs according to UK road laws and regulations, guaranteeing safe use.
• Ensured delivery paperwork was accurately completed and processed after shifts.
• Offered flexibility in working hours, covering evening and weekend shifts to meet logistics demands.
• Collected and returned HGVs to and from depots, maintaining good timekeeping across shift changes.
• Collected, documented and loaded goods with care to avoid damage and risk.
• Carried out handball loading safely and responsibly.
• Maintained exceptional fuel efficiency through economical driving measures.
• Carried out tramping and trunking, meeting daily delivery targets.
• Performed thorough vehicle inspections prior to loading and during routes for strict safety compliance.
• Kept accurate driving hours records and complied with tachograph laws.
