Since joining HM Prison Service in 2022, I have built a strong and adaptable skill set through experience in numerous prisons across the country, working within varied regimes, security levels, and operational cultures. My ability to quickly integrate into new teams and environments has enabled me to take on additional responsibilities beyond my core role, including stepping up as Supervising Officer in several establishments.
Across these roles, I have demonstrated consistent leadership, sound judgement, and a calm, professional approach in high‑pressure situations. I have overseen staff and prisoner movements, supported incident response, conducted dynamic risk assessments, and ensured compliance with safeguarding, security, and procedural standards. My experience spans reception, residential units, segregation, and specialist areas, giving me a broad operational understanding of the prison estate.
I currently work within a small specialist unit in the HMP Hull Reception Department, where I manage complex prisoner arrivals, transfers, and releases. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to make rapid, informed decisions to maintain safety and security. I am trusted to lead small teams, support vulnerable individuals, de‑escalate conflict, and uphold professional standards in one of the most demanding areas of the prison.

I also took responsibility for running after‑school clubs, supporting whole‑school events, and participating in professional development activities.
Oversaw wellbeing and educational progress of children in my care, developing effective classroom management, time management, and conflict-resolution strategies that created a positive learning environment.
Developed communication, organisation, and leadership skills through extended placements in three diverse school settings, enhancing adaptability to various teaching environments and collaboration with staff to support pupils with differing learning needs.
Provided one‑to‑one care for a child with severe autism and complex behavioural needs, ensuring a safe and adaptive environment tailored to his requirements. Engaged him through motivating and structured activities, adjusting approach to suit his communication style and sensory needs.
Maintained child’s safety at all times, offered reassurance during anxiety, and implemented strategies to help him manage challenging situations. Supported him in home and community settings, guiding him to cope confidently and appropriately.
Throughout my time in this role, I have built a strong, trusting relationship with both the child and his parents, demonstrating reliability, patience, consistency and a genuine commitment to his wellbeing and development.
