Luca Byford

• Motorsport

From a very young age I have loved all things motorsport, I am a huge fan of F1 as well as BTCC and TCR UK and have been lucky enough to attend lots of events over all 3 series with garage access to many touring car meetings. Being able to see race cars up close and mechanics, engineering, strategy and precision come together at the highest level has ignited my passion. As well as all the compulsory GCSE,s I have one in design technology and went onto study engineering at NVQ level, my goal now is to advance my qualifications and specialise in motorsport engineering ready to pursue a dream career.

• Work

I have learnt many skills in my 3 years working at my local football club and working for our family Interior building company in the off season and school holidays, although the 2 jobs are very different they have both taught me very valuable and transferable skills as well as giving me experience in working with lots of different kinds of people

• My hobbies include Go karting, where I always study the timesheets after each session to see where I can improve my performance
• I have played football since the age 5 and am very proud to be the captain of my team
• I am a keen golfer and have membership at our local golf course as well as getting to the gym as often as i can
• I played Rugby and cricket all the way through my school years

In 2023 I was awarded The Jack Petchey award. This is a scheme that recognises and celebrates the hard work and outstanding achievements and contributions of young people in schools in London and Essex.
