Work History

Production Operative

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Hull
Hull, Kingston upon Hull
3 2017 - Current
  • Since starting at Siemens Gamesa as a production operative eight years ago, I have developed many skills to suit the job.
  • My first role required me to restore blade defects after packing and casting processes, which included grinding, laminating, filling, and sanding on b75 and b82 blades.
  • These skills have rapidly developed, opening up new challenges, which include me being a buddy. This role is used to develop and progress new and/or inexperienced operatives, ensuring each blade is to correct work specifications.
  • I then moved across segment to assembly to learn and assist in how to apply vital offshore equipment, such as leading edge protection, vortex generators, and dynotails. These tasks require a great amount of awareness to ensure everything is done according to global work instructions and customer specifications.
  • While working in assembly, I carried on assisting segment 3 in repairs, which led me to a new challenge: traveling to France to assist with the start-up of segment 3. This included skills such as organizing operatives, takt time management, and skills development for the French operatives.
  • While in France, I had the opportunity to join a new process coming to Hull: Pre-Cast Beam, a vital part of the larger blades. This role involved me going to Denmark to train for the new process. Upon return, I was tasked to lead a team in this area.

Plasterer

Almerico Ltd
07.2015 - 03.2017
  • I started at Almerico as an Apprentice straight from school, I learnt everything from scratch
  • To start I was lifting and carrying and maintaining a clean and safe work place
  • I soon progressed and completed my level 2 NVQ in plastering
  • I was then given my own jobs from the start, measuring up, ordering and completing the jobs I was given
  • The job was very satisfying and I found myself to be very good at it, I just always wanted to better myself and thats when I applied for Siemens.
