Work History

Production Operative

Board 24 Limited, 170 Longridge Rd, Ribbleton, Pre
Preston, Lancashire
11.2003 - 03.2026
  • Working in the quality control department of Board 24, where the company manufactures cardboard for some of the biggest companies in the UK.
This role involves extensive quality control and attention to detail, ensuring the end product meets the company's strict quality standards. Working with heavy machinery and on a rota'd shift pattern of nights, earlies, and lates, the need to adapt is vital.
  • I have also worked in the shredding department, which again brings its own challenges, as you are expected to meet targets for processing cardboard by both volume and weight. In this part of the role, you need to be able to work independently at all times and be self-motivated to complete the tasks and meet the given timescales.
  • As this is a large and busy organisation, teamwork is vital for a smooth-running operation, as is flexibility, as you may be expected to cover shifts and extend hours to 12-hour shifts to cover holidays and other needs, with little or no notice.

Supermarket Shelf Stacker

Morrisons
Preston, Lancashire
02.2001 - 07.2001
  • Maintained cleanliness and order in aisles, preventing any safety hazards for customers and staff.
  • Stocked shelves with products in designated areas, maintaining optimal inventory levels for customer convenience.
  • Kept customer areas spotlessly clean and tidy, maintaining clear thoroughfares to eliminate health and safety risks.
  • Monitored shop floor stock levels, replenishing regularly to create visually appealing product displays.
  • Removed out-of-date and damaged goods for disposal.
  • Rotated stock according to expiry dates, minimising waste and ensuring product freshness.
  • Kept shelves looking tidy by removing empty packaging, cardboard and plastic from shelves.
  • Ordering stock for the next day to replenish the shelves was also a daily task.

Senior Workshop Engineer

TEC UK Limited
Preston, Lancashire
08.1994 - 02.2001
  • Working for one of the leading companies and dealing with electronic till systems for large clients, such as Morrisons Supermarkets, this role was technical and required great attention to detail.
  • Repairing faulty till units at our workshop, handling small parts, and testing them once complete. Part of the role would also include helping the installation team at new Morrisons supermarkets to install our point-of-sale systems. Due to the number of locations Morrisons currently has in the UK, and with their other clients, the workload was high, so the ability to work with your colleagues to achieve the required end result is vital.
