Although housekeeping is usually seen as a low-skilled job, in my short time there I have had a handful of unique experiences that I believe don't relate to all housekeepers.
Firstly, I have been labelled as a "self-checker", meaning I am trusted to check the cleanliness of my own rooms. I am the only housekeeper at my specific hotel who has been given this perk, displaying how I have earned the trust of my employers as a result of consistency and high cleanliness (performance). I received rewards from the company for my high cleanliness scores.
Likewise, I have been trusted numerous times to train new recruits. This is because I am perceived by my employers as a good model to follow for new housekeepers in terms of performance but also attitude. This came very early on in my time at Premier Inn. I received rewards from the company for this.
