After just over a year in the catering department, mastering all areas of the department, i wanted to venture out and test myself again. thankfully, an internal transfer opportunity opened up within the business to see land as a sales assistant selling (primarily) technology; ranging from phones/tablets to televisions and even large electrical items such as washing machines and fridge freezers etc. i also sell all types of menswear. we get a very wide range of customers, whether it's age, or technical capability; I am always happy to approach and help any customer who needs it. conversations can range to simple questions about how tech works, to long and detailed conversations about how the piece of technology works, additional offers like installations, additional optional add-ons like accidental cover or data transfers.

I was labelled a "high performing partner" which was instrumental in me securing the transfer in the first place and i am very proud of that title, my reputation means upon my arrival, there were eager eyes on me to see how i'd perform in what was a brand new environemt to me. since joining, i have integrated really well with my team, becoming someone who people go to if they have a problem or something they want to talk about, or if they want to increase their knowledge of a particular item. I am often a problem solver aswell as we have cases come in from customers whether its questions about what stock we have, or if a customer has had a issue with their item, i am quick to jump in, email or phone customers in order to solve the issue and retain customer loylty, this is something that is really important to me.

The next field i ventured in was the hospitality environment; this job included all sorts of tasks; whether it was working in dishwash, serving and making drinks front of house, or working in the kitchen prepping/ making orders. after just 3 months in the job i was placed into the kitchen due to my high performance and workload. As the busiest and most difficult area of that particular job, i was eager to jump in, even though i was inexperienced with kitchen work, but i wanted to show to the management team that i was capable of performing highly even under busy circumstances, which we usually were because we were a busy cafe with a high employee turnover.

Because of a rather high turnover rate, and the trust that the 3 managers had in me, i was given lots of responsibilities and tasks to do, including helping newer employees find their feet, and make sure they were completing their tasks to the expected standard. this is something i thoroughly enjoyed doing, because i enjoy guiding people through the journey of being brand new to the job, to core members of the team who were competent and friendly with everyone.

After the shop i was working in closed down, i decided to go into the world of agency work, the job i ended up getting was at a company called Allens Event Hire, who primarily focused on delivering/ collecting things like chairs, tables or even barbecues for events (usually weddings) across devon. considering this was in the summer we were very busy with usual starts on mondays and fridays of 6AM in order to get on the road quickly to maximise delivery time. during the weekdays i would usually start at 7:30/8AM because there wouldn't be much delivering to do, so we would do maintenance work such as cleaning chairs and tables so that they're ready for the following week. At this job, i learned alot about expectations, time management and professional standards.

This was my first job. This included the general things any retail store would offer such as serving customers on the till, restocking the shelves, managing deliveries and walking around the store interacting with customers incase they needed help or guidance. As a first job, it was really helpful for me to get used to the working world and to help myself come out of my shell as an individual.
