Work History

Service Colleague

Asda
Woking
11.2012 - Current
  • I am based primarily with the service team, working face to face with customers. This includes working on the service desk, dealing with refunds, welcoming visitors, and handling customer queries and complaints. I also occasionally serve on the tills. This has helped me gain valuable communication skills and confidence dealing with the members of the public. I also have to be able to think on my feet, use initiative and remain calm and helpful in difficult situtions.
  • During the course of my time at Asda, I have been given opportunities to work outside of my department and learn new skills across the store. For example I help process online parcel deliveries, ensuring the parcels are stored correctly in the warehouse and then handed over to customers when they come to collect.
  • I also work one day a week in the cash office, counting money from the tills, inputting values onto the computer system, and processing banking. This role requires a good eye for detail and the ability to spot where tiny errors have been made. I have also learned to be more confident with computer systems and figures.
  • I am in charge of placing consummables orders for the store, such as stationery and packaging. This requires communicating with different team leaders and managing the budget. I also put away the delivery when it arrives, ensuring all items are recieved by the correct department.
  • I often help with more general administrative tasks, such as handling colleague files, reporting technical faults across the store, and sending and responding to emails. I have learned to step up when something needs doing, work alongside different teams, and manage my time effectively.
  • I sometimes work with the process colleagues, printing and displaying price labels on the shelf. This is a job that requires accuracy and efficiency.

Admin Assistant

St John's Primary School
Knaphill
09.2010 - 04.2011
  • This was a temporary position that enabled me to gain basic administation skills such as handling databases, answering the telephone and placing supply orders. I also dealt with parent and visitor enquiries and delivered messages to teachers and staff members.
