Health & social care advocacy is a large part of this role & is supported by me developing a caring culture amongst community members & local organisations. I support carers & volunteers by providing a resource hub & listening ear.

For the past year I have manned the CCC phone & acted as a point of contact for the community. Using a WhatsApp group I coordinate a network of volunteers who are willing to offer simple support & help within the community, be it assistance with shopping, lifts to the GP or a social visit.

The role requires me to become aware of Community Members who have needs that fall within the Category of Health & Social Care, Mental & Emotional Health & Well-being. By invitation I work alongside members to identify the most appropriate resources to meet expressed needs. The resources can be from within the community, statutory or otherwise. I do not provide direct care.

Organised informative sessions on health and well-being topics, enhancing community education.

Provided up-to-date information on best practices in health and wellbeing while developing social activities. Along with two volunteers we hold a weekly cuppa & chat session to encourage community cohesion & support for those most vulnerable & have previously held felting sessions. I have also facilitated trainers to provide education sessions from Age Scotland on dementia & POA, Suicide prevention from Samh, PVG & self directed support from Circles Advocacy Network & safeguarding training from Protecting People Moray.

Coordinated the loan equipment service and maintained all equipment to ensure it was fit for purpose.

I ensure confidentiality in all communications within the community.

Assisted with the planning of fundraising events and represented the CCC within the local area.
