• Load Security: Securing steel products using chains, load binders, straps, and ratchet straps, ensuring all loads are compliant with safety regulations.
• Loading/Unloading: Assisting with or overseeing the loading and unloading of structural steel at fabrication sites, steelworks, or customer sites, often using overhead cranes.
• Vehicle Checks: Completing meticulous daily vehicle walk-around checks, including trailer integrity.
• Transportation: Driving articulated lorries with flatbed or Tautliner trailers to deliver steel products, including wide or extended loads, to sites across the UK.
• Compliance: Adhering strictly to Driver Hours Regulations, Working Time Directive, and site-specific health & safety procedures (e.g., in steelworks).
• Documentation: Managing delivery paperwork and electronic proof of delivery

As a Roadside Recovery Technician/Driver I provided emergency assistance to stranded motorists, diagnosing and fixing mechanical or electrical faults at the roadside, or towing vehicles to a garage. Key duties include jump-starts, wheel changes, and secure vehicle transport while ensuring customer safety and delivering excellent customer service under high-pressure scenario's.

Providing reassurance to stressed customers and ensuring their safety, particularly on busy motorways.

Adhering strictly to health and safety procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and managing traffic safety.

Keeping accurate digital records of service calls, repairs, and vehicle damage.

A Class 1 (C+E) HGV driver operates large articulated vehicles (up to 44 tonnes) to transport goods over long or short distances. Key responsibilities include ensuring load security, performing vehicle inspections, adhering to strict tachograph regulations, and efficient route planning. They often handle documentation and assist with loading.

Licences and expeience:

• Full Category C+E (Class 1) Licence.
• Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Understanding of driver hours and working time regulations.
• Good communication skills and adherence to health and safety.

Fostered a passion for off-road driving instruction, contributing to ongoing training excellence post-service.I was posted with my regiment in Germany for the full term of my service, and carried out tours in Cyprus, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
