MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Leading the formulation the aims, objectives of the Support Centre Service and establish the policies through which they are to be achieved.
Taking responsibility for child protection issue.
Taking responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the Support Centre Service.
Ensuring that staffing is in place in line with the Service Structure. Recruiting when necessary in line with LCC recruitment policy and procedures.
Ensuring that all staff are appointed in line with Safer Recruitment practices and that they have Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services Certificates.
Establishing an ambitious vision and ethos for the future of the Support Centre Service..
Leading the Support Centre Service improvement and Service self-evaluation planning process, through agreed priorities.
Leading in the development, implementation and monitoring of action plans and other policy developments where appropriate.
Leading by example to motivate and work with others.
In partnership with the Curriculum Lead and Pastoral Lead, lead by example when implementing and managing change initiatives.
Developing a high quality service that meets Ofsted standards and is responsive to the needs of mainstream schools in supporting pupils at risk of permanent exclusion.
Ensuring high quality intervention programmes support pupils to reintegrate within their home schools.
Be an excellent role model, exemplifying a high standard of teaching and promoting high expectations for all members of the Support Centre Service community.
Raising standards through staff performance management.
Leading the development and delivery of training and support for staff in the areas of teaching and learning.
Leading the development and review of agreed aspects of the curriculum including planning, recording, reporting, assessment for learning and the development of a creative and appropriate curriculum for all pupils.
Developing effective strategies to deliver appropriate curriculum entitlement to users and provide progress reporting and recording.
Developing effective assessment procedures appropriate to temporary and longer term provision and that this is relevant to whole school practice.
Managing the Support Centre Service through strategic planning and the formulation of policy and delivery of the strategy, ensuring management decisions are implemented.
Ensuring robust evaluation of school performance, progress data and actions to secure improvements comparable to appropriate national standards.
Ensuring through leading by example the active involvement of pupils and staff in their own learning.
Leading regular reviews of the Support Centre Service systems to ensure statutory requirements are being met.
Managing activities related to professional, personnel/ HR issues.
Managing HR and other leadership processes as appropriate e.g. sickness absence, disciplinary, capability.
Ensuring a consistent approach to standards of behaviour, attendance and punctuality are implemented across the Support Centre Service.
Contributing to the development and review of the Behaviour Supporting Continuum ensuring that the Support Centre model is part of a continuum of support for pupils at risk of exclusion and supporting the LA in meeting its statutory duties for permanently excluded pupils.
Liaising with the SEN and Assessment Team and SEN and Early Intervention Panel to access appropriate support for individual pupils.
Monitoring expenditure of premises and requisition budgets for the service.
Maintaining confidentiality of information at all times in accordance with the procedures of the Freedom of Information Act and Data Protection.
Plan, organise and implement educational provision for children with barriers to learning and/ or at risk of permanent exclusion.
Manage one teacher and one learning support assistant.
