Affiliations

  • Lawn bowls - I play and Carterton bowls club. I have represented the county at junior and men's level. I have also reached the national finals of competitions competing against some of the best players in the country. I have had multiple England trials at under 18 level and made it into the squad in November of 2025. I also became the club captain during the 2025 outdoor season, which involved writing out and displaying availability sheets and then subsequently picking the teams. It also involved strong commitment as most weekends consisted of 2 games and I was required to perform speeches before each game welcoming the away team and after each game thanking bar staff and giving a breakdown and results of the match. This displays strong leadership skills not just with people my age but with people that are many years older and confidence in public speaking.
  • Rugby - I play at Witney rugby football club and have done for over six years which requires great team skills and resilience through tough games.

Accomplishments

During year 9 at Burford, I was given the opportunity to take part in our language leaders program. I was put in a group with others and had to create a lesson plan to teach children from year 4 visiting our school on our modern foreign languages day about the language we had chosen to teach. We taught 5 different schools over the course of the day. The following weeks after the day, the schools had to vote for their 2 favourite groups. One of them was ours. This meant we would teach our lesson again but this time for a year 6 class. This shows strong leadership qualities, teamwork and ambition for success.

Recently I was invited to my schools gifted and talented program due to continually achieving top assessment grades. This program provides opportunities for us to share study skills to help each other achieve our full academic potential.
