  • This role is managing the non-plastic purchasing side of the business (anything non-plastic related). The key aspects of this job are being the main contact for engineering requirements (machine breakdowns/parts), responsible for stock management of stores and making sure parts are ordered in time to keep production going. The role also requires being the line manager to the purchasing assistant and man manage that person to achieve the department (company) goals & projects. Due to the pandemic, keeping stocking levels correct and making sure the company does not get affected by it has been a key skill that’s been required over the 2 years that has been learned and achieved. Running the non-plastic purchasing & stores side of the business for 6 months over the early parts of the pandemic meant flexibility, commitment and hard work was critical to make sure the department achieved. With this role CIPS Level 4 has been undertaken for further development.

Purchasing Co-Ordinator

Luxus Limited
2019.06 - 2020.08
  • This role is working within the plastic purchasing side of the business. This role entailed working alongside the purchasing manager to purchase plastic regrind, plastic scrap & masterbatch. Negotiation skills were required, as in this part of purchasing the suppliers usually try to dictate the price due to the limited market, so to get the best price strong negotiation skills were required & developed that resulted in an existing supplier that was only used once every couple of months for 1 type of material to now being one of the company’s key suppliers of PP. Also, due to machine changes problem solving and adaptability is required as you may need to get material ordered/delivered earlier or later than expected due date, depending on sales forecast/requirements whilst keeping stocking levels to a minimum. This role also required working and having a good relationship with various departments within the business (Lab, Extrusion & Logistics) to make sure sales requirements are met. Further good relationship were required with material handling/lab to make sure constant understanding of material is maintained whilst understanding how the material is behaving and if quality of the product is slipping so this can be quickly resolved with the supplier for future orders.
