I started ONYXDB up in 2022 after seeing a gap in the market for QSR restaurants and aimed for this sector. Are current clients are Wingstop UK, ITSU, Wendy's and a few smaller one off and cat B office fitouts.

We specialise in fast track high finish projects with a average new restaurant fitout in 6 weeks

Currently this year we are course to complete 28 new stores for Wingstop, 19 store refurbishment's for ITSU and 2 new stores for Wendy's, Also this year we completed office and toilet refurbs for Collinson's Agricultural.

I manage the day to day of the company and deal with clients making sure work is coming into the company . I have a Commercial, project and site mangers that feed into me regular so i can keep up to date and instruct where needed.

The company has 33 direct employees and looking at £10 - £12 million pound turnover

I Set up CN Projects as a limited company due to the increased work load and clients.

The works consisted of maintenance and refurbishment works for national chain company's such as TGI Fridays, Prezzo, Piccolino and Wingstop.

The works consited of small reactive maintenance across the uk, from roofing works, plumbing, electrical, flooring works and what ever the clients needed.

We use to also undertake refurbishment works would include from closing a restaurant from a couple of days or up to a week. We would install new floor finishes, counters, decoration, lighting, seating and bars kitchens.

I Became a self employed joiner undertaking a mixture of subcontracting to companies like Paul Bamber, J3 Projects and in between this I would undertake private work.

Paul Bamber I use to help out when he had Booths supermarket fitouts, this would be a mixture of oak finishes, restaurant areas counters floors wall linings etc

J3 Projects - I use to help out on restaurant fitouts on TGI Fridays restaurants. The works included stud walls raised floors, ash cladding, bars and condiment units. Doors casings and vanity units.

Domestic work we would undertake kitchen refurbs, new doors and casings, timber floors for clients

Following on from completing my Apprentice with a NVQ level three in joinery with Paul Bamber I then started as joinery at the company.

Joinery works we undertook

• First fix joinery - Roofs, floors, Stud walls and stairs
• Second fix joinery - Doors casings and ironmongery, Pipe Boxings, skirting, architraves
• Final fix, Kitchens and bathrooms, fitted furniture

This meant I was working on my own completing joinery task without supervision.

I was also responsible for running small projects and the ordering of materials. This was a great experience giving me and insight into the management side of projects

I left the Livesey group to better my joinery knowledge and started working for Paul Bamber a smaller joinery company specialising in more bespoke work.

We did a lot of domestic one of builds working on roofs all the way through to bespoke kitchens.

We also do the shop fit on Booths supermarkets and restaurants within the north west of England

• Working with experienced joiners to learn how to do joinery tasks and work towards becoming a joiner
• Attend college in block release to understand the theory side of joinery
• Collaborated with other tradespeople on large scale building projects, honing interpersonal communication skills.
• Learning how to use hand tools and power tools
• Supported senior joiners to complete complex joinery tasks.
