I am an experienced Leisure Manager who has worked in a number of facilities across Devon and Cornwall. These roles have varied over the years: I have been a Deputy Manager at a large, all-weather Leisure attraction; a Swimming Co-ordinator for multi-site role in south-east Cornwall; and a Trainer Assessor at a number of centres, to name a few.
My current role is as the Leisure Operations Manager at China Fleet Country Club, a four-star resort in nestled in Saltash, Cornwall, which has a strong heritage and connections with the Royal Navy. I cover in all aspects of Leisure Management at the Club. The role is directly responsible for the Duty Managers, Team Leaders and Lifeguards, but I also supervise the management of the Gym, Reception, Cleaning and Membership teams. The role is varied and as such I also work closely with the Hotel, F+B, Golf, Greenkeeping, and Housekeeping teams. The Club is well-respected in the local community, and my role within the Club is challenging and fast-paced.
I hold the National Pool Management Qualification. While this is aimed at Pool Management there is a vast cross-over across industries in terms of serious incident management, risk assessments and fire safety. I am a Tutor for the National Pool Supervisor Qualification, an industry qualification aimed at educating Managers and Supervisors. I am also currently studying towards my NEBOSH General Certificate.
My chief strength is that I strongly believe in the continued development of staff, leading to a flexible team which can adapt to challenges. Where the industry in general has struggled with recruitment and retention since the Covid-19 pandemic, I am proud to say that this has not been a factor during my tenure.
Specifically for the advertised role: I have proven experience in the leisure industry, I currently manage a diverse team directly and support others indirectly across the Club, I work with the Deputy General Manager in managing the financial side of the department. I consider myself to have excellent customer service skills, have a strong understanding of health and safety specific to the leisure industry, and led the way in introducing three separate booking / POS systems at two different sites.
I am proficient in Microsoft office. I do not hold a personal license however I would be more than willing to learn if offered the role.
