Work history

Befriending Volunteer

Advocacy Matters
Birmingham, West Midlands
2025.09 - 2026.07

Having faced significant health challenges myself in the past, I have developed deep understanding of the isolation and vulnerability that can accompany such experiences. This inspired me to give something back to the community and become a Befriending Volunteer with Advocacy Matters. In this role I have offered empathy, companionship, and practical support to others navigating similar difficulties in a care home setting. Fostered a positive and friendly environment by offering craft activities.

In addition to befriending, I also have experience in designing and creating posters for Advocacy Matters, allowing me to use creative skills I have learnt through my A level art and Diploma in Art and Design. I also have very good experience working with clay and crochet, and have used this in my voluntary role as well as holding stalls at some craft fairs.

Retail Volunteer

Birmingham Hospice
Birmingham, West Midlands
2026.04 - 2026.07

I volunteered at my local charity shop from early April to the start of July, giving up my free time to support the team and help keep the shop running smoothly. During this experience, I grew a lot in confidence and developed several practical and social skills.

I helped create a friendly, positive atmosphere by greeting customers, answering questions, and treating everyone with respect. I took pride in keeping the shop floor tidy and well-presented at all times.

I also built strong organisational skills through processing clothing donations — attaching labels, sorting items, and using a steamer to prepare clothes for display, which was a completely new skill for me.

I consistently showed up and contributed despite managing ongoing health challenges, demonstrating reliability, resilience, and strong personal commitment.
