Having worked in a Charitable organisation for many years I have seen and adapted to a lot of changes. I have worked with and been led by a diverse and varied group of people. I believe this has helped me to become the skilled professional I am today, with extensive expertise in leadership across many skill sets, these include, stock control, and the ordering of pharmaceuticals, consumables, and equipment. I demonstrate proficiency in HR issues including recruitment, disciplinary actions, and dismissals, alongside adept handling of client service matters. I have become experienced in in-house banking procedures, more so in recent times. Not so much in my current role but I am proficient in Schedule 3 disciplines. Committed to staff mentoring and delivering vet nurse consults with precision. Skilled in blood sampling, veterinary X-rays, patient care, anaesthesia, and dispensing. Aims to leverage comprehensive skills to enhance operational efficiency and client satisfaction within the veterinary field.
Although not as young as I used to be I feel I have a lot to offer to this role, I have a wealth of experience and learning over the years.
I started my Veterinary Nursing career at John Masons Veterinary Surgery, Eastwood, Nottinghamshire in 1989 for 12 months in practice prior to attending Rodbaston College.
I joined the PDSA in 1991 as a newly qualified Nurse.
The role at that time was a residential role shared with another colleague that required you to be available out of hours for any emergency work.
During these early years I mainly gained skills in Anaesthesia, X-ray, assisting the Veterinary Surgeons with consults, Animal Handling, Schedule 3, emergency out of hours work, nursing skills, Dispensary and Reception duties as required.
I did 2 secondment roles as Head Nurse prior to being appointed in the role permanently in July 2005.
The Hospital management team at this time consisted of a Senior Veterinary Surgeon and the Head Nurse.
The role required you to lead the Nursing team, Reception team, Nursing Auxiliaries and the night time Animal Auxiliaries.
I remained as the full time Head Nurse until the birth of my Son in 2010 at which point I returned as a job share Head Nurse and I remain in this role at present.
