I am a former Metropolitan Police Officer who served a 30-year policing career in numerous roles and specialist commands throughout London prior to retiring in November 2023. (Aged 50)
This substantial career has ranged from working at one of the busiest police stations in London responding to 999 or 101 calls, to working on dedicated firearms teams responding to firearms incidents across London, to the Dog Support Unit and the policing of large scale demonstrations, and, for the last 5 years of my career, the investigation into fatal and life changing road traffic collisions.
Here, my role was not only to investigate one of the most serious and traumatic of offences and to present that investigation to partner agencies, but also to support the grieving families of these incidents as a Family Liaison Officer of which I worked with multiple families both from the UK and Europe assigned to them and being the representative of the Metropolitan Police Service.
This 30 year policing career and the roles I have performed over these years, has assisted me to develop and enhance a wide variety of skills ranging from communication skills to problem solving, resilience, working under pressure, prioritising workloads with a strong attention to detail and also and as important whilst being part of a larger team always making that vital individual contribution.
