I am a dedicated and adaptable FY2 doctor with diverse clinical experience across general medicine, acute medicine, trauma & orthopaedics, general surgery, geriatrics, and general practice. I will also complete an Accident & Emergency rotation. I am passionate about acute and internal medicine, with good experience in managing complex and acutely unwell patients. I aspire to enter Internal Medicine Training with a view to specialising in Acute Medicine, combining rapid decision-making, multidisciplinary teamwork, and patient-centred care to improve outcomes in high-pressure settings.
Completed a rotation in general/internal medicine doctor on ward G South (Respiratory and Endocrinology) at Inverclyde Royal Hospital, managing acutely unwell patients on the ward, coordinating care within multidisciplinary teams, and developing core clinical skills in diagnosis, treatment, and patient communication.
Completed a rotation in acute medicine, assessing and managing acutely unwell patients in a high-pressure environment on ward J North (AMU) at Inverclyde Royal Hospital. Gained experience in rapid decision-making and initiating treatment plans. Engaged in acute medical clerking, as well as opportunities for clinical procedures such as Lumbar punctures, abdominal paracentesis, and arterial lines for patient's being transferred to critical care.
Completed a rotation in trauma & orthopaedics/general surgery at Inverclyde Royal Hospital, assisting in theatres, managing pre- and post-operative patients, and responding to acute surgical emergencies/medical emergencies in surgical patients. Developed skills in wound care, perioperative management, and multidisciplinary team collaboration in a surgical setting.
Completed a rotation in geriatrics, managing complex, multi-morbid elderly patients in acute and rehabilitation settings. Gained experience in comprehensive geriatric assessments, polypharmacy management, end-of-life care, and multidisciplinary team collaboration to optimize patient outcomes and support holistic care. The rotation also had shifts within acute medicine as an SHO - giving more clinical experience in clerking medical patients and acting as senior support to FY1s.
Completed a rotation in general practice, managing a diverse range of acute and chronic conditions in primary care. Developed skills in independent decision-making, patient-centred care, and holistic management, while gaining experience in health promotion, preventative medicine, and multidisciplinary team collaboration.
I will complete a rotation in accident and emergency at the Royal Alexandra Hospital - with an aim to complete an ongoing audit in boarders patients, as well as develop skills in emergency procedures and resuscitation, as well as management and triage of acute presentations.
