Secondment at NHS England Medical Workforce Team – Medical Directorate alongside Celia Ingham-Clark
In this capacity have undertaken several projects related to workforce retention with a particular focus on improving support for international medical graduates and locally employed doctors. Projects currently include:
Undertook rotations in Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital and Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Birmingham in order to gain relevant proficiencies and competencies to fulfil the internal medicine curriculum.
Successfully completed and obtained the Medical Royal College of Physicians (London) Membership Qualification (MRCP UK PACES) in October 2022.
Completed rotations within the Acute Medical Unit, Care of Elderly People Unit and the Paediatric Departments to gain proficiencies as a Foundation Year 2 doctor.
As a Clinical Innovation Fellow, I worked alongside the Great Western Hospital Postgraduate Department of Medical Education and Management team to lead and deliver the following projects:
1. The founding and development of a Junior Doctors Medical Ethics Forum for Foundation Doctors (November 2019 – July 2020)
2. · Developed an online portable Junior Doctor’s Toolbox Kit– Facilitating the clinical duties of the Junior Doctor cohort in the medical and surgical wards of the hospital.
3. Improving Patient Confidentiality in the storage and use of patient notes – A joint QIP Project with the Medical Director and Chief Registrar.
4. A paediatric department QI project on improving markers for neonatal sepsis - involving mobile teaching rounds among midwives, junior doctors and nurses on recognising early signs of sepsis with introduction and implementation of a sepsis proforma.
