Summary

With my 8 years of classroom experience in mathematics, I believe I have the right skills to contribute positively to any educational establishment. At Callington Community College I was a valued member of the team doing my part in ensuring that the Maths results attained never dropped lower than 5th in the county during my years there. My students benefitted my strong classroom presence, engagement and “self-discovery” teaching style. In the 2015 student yearbook, I was awarded what I now consider my best ever working achievement: the title of “Kindest Teacher”.

I also have some experience in teaching PSHEE, a role I volunteered for while I was teaching. I personally feel that the content of this mandatory course to be very important for the students and I was alarmed, at the time, when I discovered the high number of incidents of poor behaviour in these lessons. Hence my volunteering.

With a background that uniquely combines classroom teaching and senior commercial leadership, my experience demonstrates strong capability in both subject delivery and real-world application. My tenure as a Mathematics Teacher at Callington Community College highlights hands-on classroom experience, curriculum delivery, and student engagement, while your earlier career in high-performing enterprise sales consistently exceeding targets within the IBM marketplace reflects strong communication, structure, and results-driven discipline that translates well into modern educational environments. In addition, my leadership as Director at Imaginal Collective shows an ability to think critically, operate independently, and engage with complex topics such as climate change and systems thinking.

My blend of teaching experience, analytical thinking, and professional maturity positions me well for education-focused roles that value subject mastery, real-world perspective, and student impact.

I am also a member and mentor for A Band of Brothers (St. Austell). This is a mentoring charity for young men (18-30) who are struggling, usually brushing against the criminal courts system and need support and mentoring. I have been a member for 6 years.

On a personal note, I have a strong spiritual practice and I am very happy to provide a meditation class for the students. I have travelled extensively in North America, Europe and Eastern Asia on business and for my spiritual studies. I have very strong communication skills from the extensive training I enjoyed during my corporate sales career and I have a deeply compassionate nature.
