In my role as a Business Consultant Trainee at Cegal, I support the company’s mission to drive digital transformation in the energy sector. My contributions include:

- Client Support: I assist in the day-to-day support of the hydrocarbon accounting solutions Cegal offers, ensuring clients’ data is managed effectively.

- Financial Verification: I help verify Japex invoices, focusing on accuracy to facilitate smooth financial operations.

- Data Reporting: I contribute to the preparation of the Rhum Management Company (RMC) reports, which are vital for informed decision-making and compliance.

- Technical Skills: I am honing my SQL skills to better analyze and interpret hydrocarbon data, which is essential for the industry’s operational processes.

- Operational Insight: I am developing an understanding of how to align technical systems with business needs for improved hydrocarbon management.

- Process Assurance: I support the testing and documentation processes to maintain the integrity and reliability of our accounting systems.

Cegal provides an ideal environment for my professional growth. As a trainee, I am learning from industry experts and contributing to projects that enhance Cegal’s offerings in the energy sector.

As a front-end developer, I have played a key role in the development of Metis, an in-house hydrocarbon production data management and accounting solution built with Django. In addition to my front-end expertise, I have also gained a strong understanding of Django's backend.

In addition to my work on Metis, I have also been responsible for mapping and migrating twenty years of data from two legacy systems into EnergyBuilder, a hydrocarbon production and accounting management software. This required me to have a thorough understanding of both systems and the data they contained, as well as strong problem-solving skills to ensure a smooth transition of data.

I have also designed and developed a new, modern website for GSES using ReactJs. This project required me to have a solid foundation in front-end development, as well as an eye for design and user experience.

In my previous role, I have been involved in fast-paced agile development, with a focus on creating and maintaining databases, serverless functions, and connecting services via APIs using AWS. I have also developed a high-fidelity front-end application in React using the Ionic framework.

In addition to these responsibilities, I have also redefined the application for native use on both Android and iOS using React Native. To ensure smooth and efficient releases, I also aided in the developmenht of a continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline that guides the software through its lifecycle before final release.

Through my experience with agile methodologies, I have become well-versed in the processes used to facilitate fast, flexible development. This includes daily stand-ups with the development team, refining the backlog of tasks, planning sprints with task duration estimations, and conducting bi-weekly sprint reviews with the entire team to assess progress and refine tasks as needed.

During a five-week contract, I developed a responsive web application in React that provided clear guidance for digital delivery projects in the RAF and beyond. Adopting a strict agile approach, I worked closely with the client to incorporate their feedback and deliver a high-quality product that met their needs.

One of the key requirements for this project was to ensure that the application was WCAG2.1 compliant, as well as adhering to the principles outlined in the Ministry of Defence design system. This required a strong attention to detail and a commitment to creating a user-friendly and accessible application.

Overall, I was able to successfully complete this project within the given timeline by focusing on speed and flexibility.
