During my time as a maternity support worker, I played an important role in supporting midwives, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide care to women, babies, and families during pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postnatal period. Duties included:


  • Antenatal Support
    Supporting women during antenatal appointments and classes.
    Monitoring vital signs (e.g. blood pressure, temperature, urine testing).
    Providing reassurance and answering basic questions about pregnancy and care.
  • Labour and Birth
    Assisting midwives during labour and delivery (non-clinical tasks).
    Supporting women emotionally and physically during labour.
    Preparing and cleaning delivery rooms and equipment.
  • Postnatal Care
    Helping with infant feeding (bottle and breastfeeding support).
    Teaching and assisting with baby care (bathing, changing, safe sleep).
