Ruaridh Smith

I am an 18-year-old with a genuine passion for cars and the automotive industry. From a young age, I have always been interested in how vehicles work and have been eager to learn more about their mechanics. I passed my driving test just two months after turning 17, reflecting my enthusiasm and commitment to pursuing my interest in motoring.

Although this would be my first apprenticeship, I have previous work experience and understand the importance of being reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn. In my spare time, I enjoy working on my own car and have carried out basic maintenance, including changing the engine oil, oil filter, air filter, windscreen wipers, and light bulbs. I also have plans to take on further mechanical projects, giving me more practical, hands-on experience.

I am now looking for an apprenticeship where I can develop my skills, gain professional knowledge, and build a long-term career as a vehicle technician. I am enthusiastic, eager to learn, and excited by the opportunity to work alongside experienced mechanics while developing the skills needed to succeed in the industry.

I currently live in Peebles in the Scottish Borders but am moving to Glasgow in September to do this apprenticeship.
