Summary

I am a hardworking, reliable, and friendly person who enjoys working as part of a team and taking on new challenges. As Vice Captain of the Portsmouth Phoenix Volleyball Team, I have helped organise training sessions, manage team payments, and support my teammates. I have also coached younger players at under-16 summer camps, which has helped me build confidence and communication skills.

Through volunteering at Parkrun and in a charity shop, I have learned the importance of being organised, responsible, and helping others. Taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award and the Bronze Crest Award has improved my problem-solving and teamwork skills. I am fluent in Romanian and learning Spanish, and I enjoy meeting new people.

I am keen to learn, work hard, and gain experience while making a positive contribution to any team.

Education

GCSEs -

Oaklands Catholic School
Waterlooville, Hampshire
2021.09 - 2026.06

Skills

Problem solving:

  • Duke of Edinburgh - during Bronze and Silver I have learnt how to recognise a mistake in navigation and backtrack, solve issues with friendships and food
  • Bronze crest award - our investigation went wrong many times and I learnt how to adapt variables accordingly and carry out hypotheses

Organisation:

  • Sport/ education life balance - managing between training 4 times a week and keeping up my predicted grades of 7's and above was not easy but I got through it, I would move things around and find availability for shifts
  • Charity shop volunteer - I would have to keep everything neat and tidy whilst also putting new stock onto the shop floor and manage it correctly in the stock room

Adaptability:

  • Parkrun volunteer - most weeks I do something new each week whether it is scanning barcodes, marshalling, timekeeping or being a funnel manager, new roles and tasks or no enemy to me
  • Bilingual - I also speak Romanian fluently which has helped me expand into other Latin languages such as Spanish which I have been self-teaching myself for 2 years

Leadership:

  • Vice captain of Portsmouth Phoenix volleyball team - meaning I organise some training sessions alongside with my coach marking attendances, managing payments and dealing with emotions
  • Coaching u16s - This summer I have led summer camp days with some other coaches my age in all the basic volleyball skills to beginners, explaining everything thoroughly and making sure no one is left behind or alone
  • Worked with Unloc Portsmouth - I took part in workshops over 3 years to learn how to become the best student leader I can possibly become over my school career

Communication:

  • Student leader - I had to direct information received from the school pupils to respective teachers and vice versa, whilst also conveying issues and problems which led me and some other students to even present a solution to the head teacher for change which was implemented
  • Vice captain - not only do I need to relay messages from the coach to the players but when someone has issues they come to me or the Captain which means we need to help resolve the problem with either the coach himself or other members
