On this work placement I assisted in running IT taster sessions for 15–16-year-olds to provide them with an insight into the experience, qualifications and job roles within the IT industry. I was required to plan and prepare the sessions, set up equipment to present the sessions and for the students to test out some equipment for themselves. This included a VR system and headset, an AR system and headset and example programming. I gained a good understanding of the importance of planning and preparation for a successful event.

Whilst on a work experience placement within the IT Department of a local school, I learnt how to complete multiple diagnostics and repair a variety of devices including laptops, desktop PC’s, servers and projectors.

This experience has developed my understanding of a variety of hardware and software programmes which are used in many workplaces, and it has inspired me to strive for a role in this sector.
