Rhiannon McManus

South Tyneside

Summary

An enthusiastic and committed professional with a First Class Honours degree in Childhood Studies and strong frontline experience in residential childcare. I have developed a deep understanding of trauma-informed care, safeguarding, and children's rights through direct
work with young people with complex needs. With leadership experience, a therapeutic approach, and a genuine passion for supporting children and young people, I am driven to create lasting, positive change in children's services.

Since 2020, I have served as a secondary carer for my two paternal half-sisters under a Special Guardianship Order. This role has involved supporting every aspect of their daily lives, including education, health appointments, emotional wellbeing, and behavioural needs. I have worked closely with professionals across social care and education, and helped create a stable, nurturing environment for their development. This experience has given me a deep, first-hand understanding of the challenges faced by looked-after children and the vital role of consistent, compassionate caregiving. It has significantly shaped my passion and long-term commitment to working within children's services.
