I am a graduate archaeologist who is just about to finish my master. I have experience in fieldwork by volunteering at two different organisations.   • This role involves making hot drinks, serving hot food, taking customers' orders and payments, and cleaning the counter and canteen.
  • I also helped count stock on Thursdays and accept and put away deliveries
  • I have also recently taken on the role of marketing manager, which involves changing the menu format and making posters for special occasions or products
  • Also, when the manager is away, I do the paperwork for those days, including opening and closing down.

  • This was a seasonal job where I either took photos of groups or individuals or showed and sold them their photos with the backgrounds
  • This role included camera training, being surrounded by and involved with the public, till training, and providing customer service to adults and children
  • I also had to make sure that the uniform I was wearing was neat and clean, as I was representing the zoo.

  • I would also be in the pot wash, where I was in charge of washing, loading the dishwasher, and drying and putting them away

  • The cafe was card-only, but I had to ensure people did not walk away before the payment was approved
  • When the cafe was slow and busy, I was in charge of cleaning many things.

  • Later on, I was trained to be a duty manager, having control of shifts and keys for the building.

Archaeological experience

Positive action placement, Teffont, Wiltshire (3rd-16th August 2024)

- Roman site 

- Cleaned metal work such as iron nails and brooches

- Cleaned and identified pieces of bone, pottery, shells, worked stone, and worked and unworked flint.

- Environmental- waterlogged and soil samples can identify seeds, bones, pottery and charcoal.


University training excavation, Grosvenor Park, Chester (May-June 2021)

- Four Week long excavation 

- Multi-period urban site, Roman to Post-Medieval

- Was part of a group to bring down a layer of our trench

-Did extensive finds washing 

- Excavated in all sorts of weather 

- Engage with the public, showing and educating school children on what had been discovered. 


Volunteer, Wollaton Park, Nottingham (2019)

- Week-long excavation 

- Multi-period urban site, Roman to Post-Medieval

- It was my first excavation, so I learned the correct way to excavate a trench, what to do with artefacts and stones, how to wash the dishes, and how to engage with the public.
