Customer sales assistant

B&Q
Wolverhampton, West Midlands
04.2025 - 07.2025

Took initiative to upsell high-margin products and recommend add-ons across furniture and garden departments, often increasing basket value and contributing to higher footfall through repeat customers.

Though not based in TradePoint itself, I consistently encouraged customers to sign up for trade cards. I did this not only to improve my own ability to sell, but to get more efficient at trying to persuade customers despite initial reluctance - A hobby driven purely by passion and product knowledge.

Assisted customers in placing online orders in-store, clearly explaining delivery times and managing expectations. Often upsold higher-quality alternatives by understanding customer needs and confidently recommending better-value options. Built trust by finding the right balance between what I aimed to sell and what the customer genuinely wanted to buy.

Leadership :
- Have led countless shifts of up to 10+ partners successfully whilst delegating both tasks and positions
efficiently. Many of which include maintaining cleanliness of the store, ensuring all positions are filled with individual strengths and weaknesses in mind, positively encouraging the team to connect with customers, and managing partner breaks around peak hours, ensuring constant customer satisfaction.

Pushing partner development:
- Able to efficiently manage time on shift to accommodate for staff training, this includes training new starters to expected standards as well
as pushing current partners to further strengthen existing skills through one-to-one sessions.

Strengthening personal knowledge :
