Completing my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award has helped me grow in responsibility, resilience, and commitment. Through volunteering with young children to support their reading, I developed patience, communication skills, and the ability to encourage others to build confidence. At the same time, I showed dedication to my football team by consistently attending training and matches, demonstrating teamwork and reliability. Successfully completing the physically demanding expedition also strengthened my perseverance and determination, proving I can stay focused and positive even when faced with challenges.

Combat of the Pen Award

Winning a “Combat of the Pen” award at The King’s School, Gloucester for my Politics essay demonstrates strong analytical and written communication skills. In answering a challenging 30-mark question evaluating the impact of corporations, lobbyists, pressure groups, and think tanks on UK democracy, I showed the ability to construct balanced arguments, think critically, and reach well-supported judgements. This achievement highlights my academic dedication, as it is such a prestigious award.

During my time in sixth form, I have been both a academic and peer mentor to two younger students. I believe that this demonstrates my willingness to help others, and compasionate qualities. By tutoring them in maths and science, I have developed strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and patiently. In addition to academic support, I also support them with any emotional worries, helping them manage their confidence and well-being. This role highlights my maturity, empathy, and commitment to helping others succeed both academically and personally.
