Nadezhda Dzhelepova

I began working as a fetal and cardiology consultant at Manchester Children's Hospital in November 2021, and since 2024, I have been appointed to a substantive position. I perform day-to-day duties with precision and efficiency while also actively participating in research projects and educational activities, such as Sonographer training days. Transitioning from a consultant role to a substantive position came with undertaking a few new projects such as creating a resource booklet for families who are seen in fetal cardiology clinic and taking part in governance meetings ,audits and research

I have worked in pediatric cardiology department of Cardiff University Hospital for a year. I was attracted to that position because I knew that Wales fetal medicine team has won recognition for excellence and research. I have worked as a pediatric cardiology registrar for one year being responsible for inpatients, outpatient clinics and on-calls. I worked twice weekly in fetal cardiology clinics scanning and counseling under supervision of fetal cardiology consultants.

I was able to participate in pediatric cardiology and fetal cardiology research projects under supervision of Professor Uzun.

Being involved in both fetal and pediatric cardiology research projects have deepened my understanding of these fields.

I have worked in Evelina Children's Hospital as a senior pediatric cardiology registrar for a year. I was involved in the diagnostic and treatment process of children with congenital and acquired heart disease.. This has given me significant responsibility, especially in the diagnostic and treatment processes for children with both congenital and acquired heart diseases
I participated in teaching and research projects which enriched my practice, allowing me to contribute to the education of others while continuing to expand my own knowledge.

I have worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital for 2 years. I have worked in general cardiology Rota and On-call Rota where I gained invaluable experience in imaging and managing patients in busy environment. I have participated in teaching projects and research projects. I prepared JCC discussions. I regularly attended fetal cardiology clinics out of ours and during zero weeks and annual leave and scanned and took part in counseling under supervision of professor Marek and his colleagues. I kept log book with fetal cases and prepared cases for fetal cardiology network group.

I have worked in Manchester Children's Hospital for one year as a pediatric cardiology registrar performing Echo's and taking care of in hospital pediatric cardiology patients .I presented patients to Joint Cardiology Meeting and worked in outpatient department as well .I attended fetal cardiology clinics once weekly where I was observing fetal scans .

I have worked as a junior pediatric cardiology consultant for four years.

I had the responsibility to diagnose and treat pediatric cardiology patients from Plovdiv and Plovdiv areas.I referred critical cardiology patients who needed surgery to the National Cardiology center arranging safe transport and handover.I have worked in the pediatric cardiology department where I and my colleague's consultants managed cardiology patients with acquired cardiology disease and nonurgent congenital heart malformations.

I have specialized in pediatric cardiology for 2 years at National Heart Hospital .My training started with one year in general cardiology department where I handled day-to-day work in cardiology ward. This included admitting patients, preparing them for surgery, presenting patients to MDT, and being part of on-call rota. Next, I was rotated for 6 months to CICU where I was taking care of patients immediately after operation. I learned lot about post-op hemodynamics and worked in cooperation with anesthetists and surgeons. My last 6 months were spent in echo and cath lab where I developed my scanning skills. At end of my training, I entered exam after which I obtained certificate as consultant in pediatric cardiology. Additionally, I entered echo exam which included theoretical part and log book of 200 echo exams and I got license for echocardiography imaging.

I have specialised in paediatrics for four years at University Hospital Plovdiv.I have been rotated in all paediatric wards gaining experience in all paediatric subspecialties including neonatology.At the end of my 4-year training, I successfully passed an exam after which I was licenced with a certificate as a consultant in Paediatrics.I am on the speciality register in the UK for paediatrics.
