Work history

Social Care Worker

City Edinburgh Council
Edinburgh
01.2003 - Current

I have worked in variou establishments as a social care worker, this has involved leading a team at night, taking responsibility for the safety and security of staff and clients. Making decisions on client health care emergencies, even fire and flood and dealt with emergency situations in a calm, resilient manner.

The clients I have cared for have cognitive impairment, commonly caused by dementia, alzheimers, head injury or learning disabilities, I have also cared for people with diagnosed mental health problems, schizophrenia etc. I work effectively with all the clients in a respectful and caring manner which does not stigmatise or exclude them.

I adapted very well to the changes brought about by the re-provisioning of services within the department over the years and found it easy to fit in with new teams and ways of working. I have also had training and experience in dispensing and administration of medication. also management of medication , reordering , booking in and changing over monthly cycle.
