  • He subsequently switched to drama-documentary, producing and directing a number of award-wining programs for BBC 1 & 2 and BBC Scotland.
  • These included 'The early life of Beatrix Potter', starring Helena Bonham Carter.
  • This won gold medal at the 1992 New York Television Festival.
  • Mike was by this time working free-lance, dividing his time between the BBC and Granada Television.

The Angel Maker

Three-act stage play, set in a remote village in Hungary after WW1. When the men return from the trenches, the women of the village poison them, one by one. Based on a true story. Published but yet to be staged. 

Tea with Tutankhamun

Feature-length film about the discovery of Tutankamun's tomb. This is the real, behind the scenes account of what really happened, not least the bitter feuds between carter and the Egyptian authorities, innner domestic issues at the American House and rivalries between Carter and his American colleagues.

This is written in collaboration with Maria MacDonell. Ongoing
