Within this job role i am responsible for completing and carrying out investigations from start to finish. There are times where i would be required to work as part of a team when dealing with either more complex or demanding cases. The cases that i deal with would generally relate to Domestic violence that are deemed to be of a high risk, quite often dealing with vulnerable and intimidated victims and witnesses.
During my time in this role i have been successful in securing a number of significant custodial sentences for the cases that i have had responsibility for and involvement in.
From my time in this role i have developed a methodical approach to working within investigations, whereby my work is completed in a thorough and timely manner in order to secure the best possible outcome.
Since working in investigations i have sought out any opportunity to further develop my skills and knowledge through available courses.
For a period of 10 years i was employed by Wiltshire Police working as a detention officer in police custody. In this role my main responsibility was detainee welfare. As part of this role on a daily basis i would be required to record all actions that i have completed and a running log regarding the detainees in my care. From my time in custody i was able to develop my communication skills, there would be times where i would be dealing with incredibly volatile individuals. My ability to communicate with people of all backgrounds would show at these times whereby i would be able to build a rapport with the individual and defuse the situation. This is turn would mean that the risk to my colleagues and i was reduced because of this.
