Marwan KASASBEH

Completed rotations in Gastroenterology, ENT, and Geriatric Medicine, with additional cross-cover responsibilities in General Medicine and the Acute Medical Unit (AMU). Developed experience in acute patient assessment, management of complex medical conditions, and multidisciplinary team working.

Gained practical experience in ENT procedures including epistaxis management, quinsy drainage, ear foreign body removal, and nasal fracture assessment. Performed procedures such as lumbar puncture and ascitic drain insertion under supervision.

Obtained Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification and prepared for MRCS Part A. Actively participated in teaching medical students and newly qualified doctors, and contributed to quality improvement and audit projects within Gastroenterology and Surgical Services.

Junior Clinical Fellow – General Surgery

Completed a one-year post in General Surgery, providing clinical care across Acute Surgical Unit (ASU), Hepatobiliary (HPB), Colorectal, Urology, ENT, and Vascular Surgery services. Managed the assessment and ongoing care of acute and elective surgical patients, including pre-operative optimisation, post-operative management, discharge planning, and multidisciplinary team coordination.

Regularly liaised with surgeons, anaesthetists, radiologists, specialist nurses, and allied healthcare professionals to facilitate patient care, arrange investigations, and coordinate MDT discussions. Gained extensive exposure to a wide range of surgical procedures through observation, assisting, and supervised practical training.

Actively contributed to undergraduate and postgraduate education by providing regular bedside teaching, clinical skills training, and mentorship for medical students and newly qualified doctors.

Led and completed two clinical audits: one focused on improving the quality and completeness of surgical consent documentation, and another aimed at enhancing outcomes and efficiency within the Hepatobiliary MDT pathway. Demonstrated a commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice throughout the role.

• HPB Department, Department of Surgery

• Assists in the day-to-day management of Emergency Department patients in conjunction with the Senior Medical Officer on duty.
• Assists in clinical cases and minor injuries. Always consult with the Senior Medical Officer on duty regarding minor cases for which he is responsible for.
• Through the hours rostered to be available to respond immediately to nursing staff/supervising medical staff requests to see patients urgently in the department. Ensure all patients under his care are appropriately discharged or presented for discussion at the medical staff shift handover meeting.
• Assists with the appropriate “handing-over” of all patients under his care to a doctor on the next shift. Follow-up X-Rays and Lab results of patients.
• Propose primary investigations and treatment plans to the resident doctor.
• Part of the CPR rapid response team.
• Perform the following Suturing, Cannula, and take Blood samples.
