Lorn Campbell

• I manage two employees who work for Campbell’s Decorators.
• This includes doing regular estimates to secure jobs ranging from re-decorating homes to bigger industrial projects.
• I organise the painters on a daily basis ensuring they have all the kit and equipment they need to complete the projects well and in an efficient and timely manner.
• Mentoring any new employees is a large part of the management role which I enjoy.

• I worked on an ad-hoc basis with Toward Moorings & Towage.
• This involves following procedures to ensure safe operation of vessels in compliance of Code of Practice. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
  1. International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea;
  2. Local Navigation Rules;
  3. National health and safety regulations;
  4. The Code of Safe Working Practices for Merchant Seamen; and
  5. All relevant national shipping or guidance noticesI worked for Toward Moorings & Towage as a supply skipper on their workboat
• We carried out most of our work at the NATO depot in Loch Striven
• It was my job to manoevure the workboat into position and run lines from the RFA ships onto the mooring dolphins

• As an HM Coastguard rescue officer I was trained to respond to any emergency situation at short notice. This training included search & rescue and life saving skills which were kept up to date.
• I worked as part of a small team in Dunoon which involved showing the ability to work as a team player but also on my own when needed. To be an HM Coastguard rescue officer you need a strong sense of responsibility and reliability, an awareness of safety issues at sea and in dangerous situations and a good knowledge of the local area and surroundings.
• It was important to be able to work under pressure and to give clear instructions to others who may be in danger.

• I bought his company from a local entrepenuer in 2011
• I built the company up to having just over 250 members
• We were on call 24 hours a day to go to the assistance of boats which had suffered engine failure, snagged propellars or flat batteries

• Following in my father’s footsteps, I took on the role of Commodore of the Holy Loch Sailing Club which was a 2 year commitment.

• My responsibilities as Commodore included the overall running of the sailing club and chair of the club committee meetings.

• All sub-committees reported to me via the club committee. I was successful in my aim of increasing the junior members of the club and ensuring the club was financially viable.
