I am currently a first-year student (starting September 25), studying Diagnostic Imaging at GCU and living in Caledonian Court student accommodation.
Four years ago, I began working part time in a local café which has become a huge part of my life. I have built strong relationships with my colleagues and I look forward to going into work. I have developed effective interpersonal skills and confidence in the workplace. I enjoy the challenge of meeting new people and can quickly build rapport with them.
I have developed my problem-solving skills and always remain calm in a busy environment working hard to find solutions to issues which arise. When I started at the café I was serving tables, taking orders and managing money. I am now a trained barista confident in producing new specialty coffees for customers. I also assist the chefs, and I train new staff.
In my final year at school, I was proactive in developing my interpersonal skills further. On a weekly basis I was a student mentor in Spanish and drama classes. I've embraced the responsibility and challenge in making connections and building relationships throughout school; skills I believe are relevant in the workplace. In addition, I visited local primary schools to deliver Spanish lessons: I developed my skills in planning, communication and sharing information. I'm passionate about Spanish culture and language and I am enjoying the challenge of Advanced higher Spanish this year.
I am determined and driven and have obtained National 5 Prizes: second in Spanish and first in Graphic Communications, and my Higher Prizes: second in Spanish and second in Applications of Maths. This demonstrates my excellent work ethic, eye for detail and passion for achieving the best that I am capable of.
Last year I auditioned for and got the part of "Miss Trunchbull" in our school show "Matilda". I was excited to be part of this challenging role. It enabled me to combine my passions and interests with building my skills in teamwork, communication and creativity. The show was a huge success and I was immensely proud to be part of it.
For years I have been volunteering with Brownies within my community. Going on Thursday is often the highlight of my week. I've been praised for my patience and I love to be creative in the planning of exciting activities for the girls to enjoy. I am passionate about being a role model to the Brownies. I'm someone they feel comfortable with and they feel confident to tell me anything. I am a responsible person who the leaders fully trust, as a result I often plan and lead sessions.
I believe my skills, qualities and abilities make me the perfect candidate for your thriving business. I would be delighted to meet with you in person to share any further information that you may require.
