I was carer for both my parents. my mum passed in 2017 and my dad passed in 2023. I would help them both around the house and garden. took them shopping and to appointments. Helping them to deal with their medical conditions.

I went back to my old job as a florist shop manager, as i missed working with the flowers, and the creative side of the job.

I had to run a busy shop. dealing with customers and teaching volunteers how to use the till, and handle the heavy donation bags safely. I did the window displays and learnt how to dress the dummy in the window. We had to make sure every item was priced and sized correctly ,and we steamed all clothes before they went in the shop. Health and safety was part of the job induction for volunteers.

I would open and close the shop. made up bouquets and arrangements. I served customers and took orders over the phone. I got an Interflora certificate for knowledge of the book used for sending orders. I did window displays and kept the shop tidy. and dealt with the buying from the Dutch wholesalers. i was also teaching Saturday girls how to make arrangements.

I had to assist the main purchaser ordering parts for the machines. Keeping a check on the stock. I also helped on the reception, putting calls through to the correct departments, and dealing with various visitors to the company.
