I started working for an activity project for adults with a learning disabilities which I loved. I did many support care jobs behind the scenes but always stayed with the activity planning. I progressed quickly and was a deputy manager of an Oxfordshire charity, Guideposts Trust at 25. I set up and implemented many leisure groups and activity groups including a day service throughout the week. My other duties were to oversee the other services my manager directed.
After my third child I chose to be a stay at home mum. I ensured I stayed in touch and picked up shifts in residential housing and the activity projects I had started. During Covid I found that I enjoyed teaching all three of my primary age children at home. I taught my youngest phonics and the older two writing skills. I decided after lockdown I wanted to work in a school. Subsequently, I joined Tower Hill primary school and found it was the place for me. I was able to transfer my skills in behaviour and use my creativity for lessons for when I am often asked to cover and also for planned PPA cover.
I am now at a point where I would like to focus on need and behaviour. I love my role at Tower Hill but after being moved to a different class because of my skills, patience and ability to build an excellent routine alongside the class teacher I've found I'm ready for a next step.
On a personal note along with my 3 children I have 1 cat and 2 gerbils. I'm sociable, chatty and enjoy anything from walks and exploring to sitting in the cinema!
I take work home because I'm always planning my next move. I work well with others and have built a really good social group at Tower Hill school. Whether its a few of us with our children at the park or coffee shop or we're out later in the evenings for a chat and catch up.
