I ran a team within the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) as a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) managing investigations and attending Fatal and serious collision scenes for thirteen and a half years. Within that time I became the office manager of the serious collision investigation unit responsible for the training of new senior investigating officers, road scene managers and officers new to the unit. I also organised and ran continuous personal development training for internal and external personnel. I designed and built a full senior investigators course a which was run for internal and external students and successfully delivered this course nationally and internally. I also travelled to Bermuda in 2022 delivering the course to 18 students. The course is on the Essex police brochure. I also reviewed all the fatal investigations having a keen eye for detail and concentrating on disclosure, processes and policy. I was a family liaison coordinator for family liaison officers managing their deployments to bereaved families and managing their welfare. I regularly met with bereaved families offering them support and signposting them to welfare services. I also oversaw investigations and managed the daily running of the office. I also managed the development of officers and their performance and designed numerous excel spreadsheets to monitor these areas. I regularly selected officers at interview boards. The role I did was certainly working at a higher rank and pay grade for what the amount and level of work I performed.

Prior to working in SCIU I was a roads policing sergeant and constable and worked at various Road policing bases all over the county. I was a road scene manager among other things managing all manner of collisions and investigations. Before I joined RPU I was a general policing constable serving at Southend, Harlow, Loughton, Waltham abbey, Barkingside and Forest gate in the Metropolitan police. Prior to joining Essex police in 2000 i was in the Metropolitan police working in the east end of London and attended my initial foundation training at Hendon Police college for 18 weeks.
