As a Higher Level Teaching assistant I am responsible for delivering Phonics, Maths and Wider Curriculum subjects to whole classes, small groups and in 1-1 sessions, as well as targeted support based on Support Plans or Thrive assessments.
I am responsible for the classroom enhancements, ensuring the children are offered a high quality provision that supports their physical and mental growth, whilst maintaining a nurturing environment.
I conduct baseline assessments to gauge and tailor teaching strategies and next steps, and work closely with the school SENCO to develop Support Plans ass needed and review them accordingly.
Forest School is a love of mine, and after experiencing a session for myself, was keen to train as a practitioner. I completed the training and developed, from scratch, the schools Forest school of which I am the named budget holder. I plan and deliver sessions to whole classes, smaller groups of children as well as family sessions with parents and carer's, and even staff sessions for well being.
I undertook the Thrive Licensed Practitioner training and received the subsequent qualification. This taught me about the stages of brain development, the effects of trauma and how to best support children and young people. This understanding constantly underpins my practice.
Some of my other training has included Lego Therapy, Play for Purpose, Elklan Speech and Language Support and a was a named Mental health First Aider for children across the school.
